Please ignore that package in the context of Sugar packaging. It is a
metapackage maintained by debian-edu (a.k.a. Skolelinux) team for use
with their (sub)distribution.

Well, Sugar is a package and Sugar is the whole software project.

I disagree that Sugar the package should act also as a metapackage.

What I would like is one or more metapackages packaged separately from
the various packages: We should not need to release a new packaging
version of sugar the package if we need to adjust some dependencies for
Sugar the project, and vice versa.

Now that the Sugar project has formed these "Sucrose" and so on names
for their meta collections, I suggest we adobt those names for the
metapackages.

But so far we do not even have a full collection. We need to package
more software before it makes sense to do metapackages.

Yes, please keep those until Debian is ready to take over maintaining
metapackages. Or better: help move those remaining packages you might
maintain only in Ubuntu over to the shared maintainance here at Alioth
:-)
