Just today I figured out how to fix this bug (and how to get
pbuilder/cowbuilder to do what I want which actually was most of the
work), we just need someone to rebuild and upload the official package
with the fix (a one-line addition to debian/libabiword-2.8-dev.install).
I'm looking forward to pyabiword hitting squeeze so I can throw it out
of sugar-jhbuild on Debian as well (Fedora already has it). :D

Would be nice to get the details so we can fix it upstream.

I think his intention is slightly different: Those packages are the
result of jhconvert, an automatic tool evaluating the sugar-jhbuild
configs to produce binary packages for various distributions. This isn't
"proper" packaging (thus only a stepping stone), but provides working
(even if not highest-quality) packages for Ubuntu (the distribution he
is running himself AFAIK) _now_.
But maybe he'll step up to clarify this. :)
