I now remember that I switched sugar-jhbuild to the evince Debian 
packages some time ago, so it should Just Work (TM). Sorry for not 
mentioning it before.

Sounds great! Do you know more about when it's going to get released? 
The homepage and mailing list archives are rather sparse regarding any 
kind of release timeline, only that 2.7.10 (released about a month ago) 
is supposed to be the last development release before 2.8.0.
