I recommend to keep the 0.88 branch until at least Sugar 0.94 has been
released (and packaged). The Collaboration code was reworked in Sugar
0.90 and is still rather buggy - up to the point that OLPC declared
their new OS release to be a "preview" [1].

FWIW, Sugar 0.94 will continue to be based on the Gnome 2 libraries.
0.96 might make the switch to Gnome 3, but it's too early to say.
