Hello,

Yesterday I've been at the Firenze World Vision event
(www.firenzeworldvision.it) where I took part at a workshop about Custom
Debian Distributions.

One of the talks, by Free Ekanayaka, mentioned a couple of nice ideas
about using debtags for Custom Debian Distribution development.

 - Debtags for package selection
   A CDD can maintain an own facet that they fully control, and use that
   as the database telling what packages are part of it. For example,
   debian-edu could have:
     debian-edu::server: apache, slapd, samba, ...
     debian-edu::workstation: kde, xserver-xfree86, ...
   then they could "debtags grep" things when they need to build package
   lists. If they want to add a package to their CDD, they just tag it.

 - Debtags for CDD tracking
   One idea was an hypothetical http://qa.debian.org/debtags.php, where
   you see package status given tags. So, if the debian-edu people
   would want to see the status of the games in their CDD, they can just
   go to something like:
     http://qa.debian.org/debtags.php?tag=3Ddebian-edu::workstation&tag=3Dg=

Indeed, this start showing how the debtags metadata could be an
important tool with serious implications. This is very encouraging,
and very good feedback!
