that is why we write:

	Copyright: (C) $YEAR $NAME.

that contains the legally recognized 'Copyright' word.

the (C) in favour of © is to not mess-up with people having non-utf
charsets. that is why *I* don't like it (I'm aware that policy does
already or will in future require UTF also for copyright files, but that
does not change the fact that not everybody has UTF on his client, or
webserver or wherever it is displayed). YMMV.
