I hope you will use SGML/DocBook to write the man pages. You can use the
docbook-to-man tool comming with Debian. SGML makes the maintenace easier
then troff files. If you are interested in examples take a look

I've contributed them to dpkg-cross (previous troff files). The Makefile
contains the docbook-to-man call.
