Thank you for the detailed report. I will try and fix as much as possible
this week (maybe next weekend).

The tarball thing is because of TAO.

Historically (almost 18 years), the "ace" source package provided ACE and
TAO packages. Last year we had to remove the TAO packages because of a
license problem with some Sun-copyrighted files.

Given that TAO is not available as a separate source package, we would like
to split the source package into two source packages. One would be only ACE
+ common stuff, the other only TAO + common stuff, and provide TAO in
contrib.

Unfortunately, this is taking a lot of time because the build system does
not make the split (determining the "common stuff" + fixing build-system
interdependencies) or the build easy. Hence the custom repackage script
(the complementary script is in the pgquiles-tao branch, also
get-orig-source.sh). If this goes on, at some point in time (sooner than
later) we will have to decide whether packaging TAO is realistic, and
therefore we will take the ACE-only upstream package, or keep using the
ACE+TAO upstream package.

I hope that clarified the issue a bit. We could use a hand or two if you
want to help, of course :-)
