Having updated the package was already "proof" enough to me that you have
the required skills. We can certainly use all the help, specially since
Charles Fry resigned a while ago (I guess it's well overdue to drop him
from Uploaders).

Your help would be much appreciated!

I am and would like to see it used as well.... I had a look at converting
the repo a some time ago and realised the CDBS rules probably needs to be
modified as well. This is not the area I know best, but I got something
(ugly/hacky) that would atleast build a package....
I'm a bit hesitant though. I don't know how messed up the repository is
from all the tricks needed to convert it. Maybe it's better to start with
a clean repo and just import the latest uploaded package?
(Specially since the svn contains my attempt at solving the RC bugs, but
the upload of -6 was rejected and a -5.1 NMU was uploaded so repository and
archive doesn't really match.)
In other words... If someone wants to pick up the convertion please do,
otherwise I'll offer to handle it but then it might turn out however
I feel is the safest and simplest bet for the future....
