OK, I will try with a script and we can talk later about other things.

(Removed r-sig-debian, which is more about using R on Debian.)

| I will try that and play with scripts. However my idea was to provide =
apt-get=20

that. What

Well, you need at least a wrapper like sudo if you want to do it as a =
user.

Also, and as was said in the beginning of the thread, we are dealing =
with two
distinct package managers that do not know about each other. Might be =
best to
keep them seperate.

That said, once we have something working on Debian, there is no reason =
why
you can't pull that "inside" R with some .R code.

| How does Uwe Ligges perform all those binary builds for Windows?

You probably need to ask him. I presume he has a script, just like =
Detlef has
for SuSE (which is based on Albrecht's work, and Albrecht himself then
created a first Debianising script upon which I built and which is the =
basis
of what is on alioth -- but I digress).

So why don't you try your luck with the alioth script once you are =
registered
on alioth and we made you a member of the team. Use this list for =
questions
as e.g. Egon and I could try to help.

Cheers, Dirk
