I've just uploaded 2.5.4-2 with this patch. Could you confirm that
everything is working once it hits unstable? (as I'm unsure that I fully
understood what this should fix)

At the default priority (which is medium nowadays), I believe it should
transition on 9 December (5 days); hopefully this is in time?
