Great - many thanks for this. The problem was that after installwizard
finished (the initial process where you tell electrum if you want to
create a new wallet or restore one from seed), if an user clicked
Auto-connect (majority of cases since this is the recommended option)
instead of manually selecting a server, it would never connect unless
user would manually close and start electrum again. Annoying and
confusing for users, especially in an environment like Tails where we
have to ship it with the Tor socks5 proxy set. This bug was not only
affecting Tails, it affected all Debian releases and Debian based
operating systems using the packages from default repositories, so I
recommend anyone interested to backport it as well.

Yes, I think this should be in time, since it's planned for 10.12.2015
