I am unsure if this is the same issue, but the support for HiDPI is
getting almost ready:

Josh, if you agree this is the same issue as yours, I can update the
upstream reference in the BTS (which currently points to a wontfix
bug). With 124dpi, you are in the described used case (ratio >= 1.25).
From the bug report, it seems that HiDPI support can be enabled with
`-Denable_hidpi=1`. It is unclear if the reported brokenness is still
present in Chromium 36.
