I agee that the two issues are related.  Chromium unfortunately seems to
have taken the integer-multiple approach, unlike Firefox which allows an
arbitrary scale ratio.  (Many screen sizes and DPIs make 1x unreadably
small but 2x unusably large.)  Nonetheless, automatic high DPI support
would solve part of this problem; I can file a new bug if the result
proves unusably large.
