I agree with Lisandro. qt5ct is a hack, and in most cases it is possible
to avoid using it.

I have now pushed a new qtstyleplugins snapshot to unstable, which has
a GTK+ 2 style and a platform theme.

That patch exports QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct. Instead of that, export
QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2 (and depend on qt5-style-plugins >= 5.0.0+git16).
This would be (almost) identical to Qt 5.6 default experience.
