I've just had a look at FHS as well. The section on /var/lib contains:

   An application (or a group of inter-related applications) must use a
   subdirectory of /var/lib for its data.

So /var/lib/omniorb4 could also be fine; but leaving it as it is
currently in SVN is okay for me.

According to the Debian Policy[1], the log file should be named
/var/log/omniorb4-nameserver.log. So the extension '.log' is missing.
