Hi Roger,

first of all I can NOT reproduce the error again, because of yesterdays update
(apt-get update). I can not stress too much, that I really had this error,
that the dev package deps on (=1.2.7-1). It is definitively gone. Therfore in
my opinion you can close this bug.

Second, below the storyboard for the installerscript from linuxprinting.

I downloaded hplip-1.6.12-run script. Because I have trouble with the
hpsendfax function in hplip. See bug #402909. I will run the script in a
mode, to get the right dev-packages.

Then chmod +x and sudo ./hplip-1.6.12-run, in automatic mode.

Resulting Errors:

warning: There are 4 missing REQUIRED dependencies.
note: Installation of dependencies requires an active internet connection.
warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: cups-devel (cups-devel- Common Unix
Printing System development files)
error: This installer cannot install this dependency for your distro/OS and/or
version.
error: Installation cannot continue without this dependency. Please manually
install this dependency and re-run this installer.

--> package naming not conform to debian!

next step: wajig installrs libcupsys2-dev

Actions:

Which lsb? 2 or 3??

Choose lsb-3, needs lsb-build-base3 and lsb-build-cc3 (newly available since
31.12.2005).

Rerun hplip-1.6.12.run

Aha, lsb-build-pkgchk3 and lsb-build-desktop3 plus their deps installed.

Still not correct one.

lsb-appchk3 installed

Still not correct.

lsb 3.1-22 package and deps installed

solves.
