Following up on this, on dspam-dev there is this exchange between

I know about a lot of users who switched back to dspam 3.6.8 cause 3.8.0 has a
lot of problems. For example the "no such user"-Bug in dspamc (see my patches).

Sorry, I don't understand why this is required. Create a source package
release it to the public. People will try and test it and report back to the
dev mailing list. There are a lot of people doing patches atm.

So I'm -1 on 3.8.0, +0 on 3.8.1cvs, and +1 on 3.8.1 when it comes out.
