 No, this will stay lmike this for etch; but you can uninstall the GNOME
 meta-packages ("gnome-desktop-environment", "gnome", etc.) and keep
 their dependencies installed manually.

 This will be fixed when APT enforces Recommends properly, which will be
 the case in lenny.
