Package: fetchmail
Version: 6.2.5-11
Severity: important

Hello,

I just upgraded my debian woody to sarge (the upgrade works fine for all
packages), however i have one problem after upgraded fetchmail. Fetchmail
refuses to start with this error :
'fetchmail: lock creation failed.'

So i did a 'strace' running this shell command (taken from
/etc/init.d/fetchmail file) :
'strace start-stop-daemon -S -o -q -p /var/run/fetchmail/.fetchmail.pid \
-x /usr/bin/fetchmail -u fetchmail -a /bin/su -- -c "/usr/bin/fetchmail \
-f /etc/fetchmailrc" fetchmail'

At the beginning of strace, i have :
'open("/var/run/fetchmail/.fetchmail.pid", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)'

Until this point, everything seems to be fine because fetchmail daemon
wasn't running, however, at the end of fetchmail startup, i have :
'open("/home/fetchmail/.fetchmail.pid", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_EXCL|O_SYNC,
0666) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)'

Then, fetchmail tries to create '/home/fetchmail/.fetchmail.pid' file
instead of create '/var/run/.fetchmail.pid'. I don't modified
'/etc/init.d/fetchmail' at all.

Here is my '/etc/fetchmailrc' file :
set syslog
set daemon 600
set logfile /var/log/fetchmail.log
set bouncemail
set no spambounce
set properties ""
poll pop.myexample.fr with proto POP3
user 'username' there with password 'password' is 'example' here

Arnaud
