I cannot reproduce this from a POP3 interface of Exchange 2003, or for a
Dovecot IMAP interface.

Please adhere to standard bug reporting policies at
<http://www.fetchmail.info/fetchmail-FAQ.html#G3> (mask passwords where
necessary).

This is likely due to misconfiguration or faults with the software that
fetchmail forwards the downloaded message to, inappropriate local
Exim/qmail/... setup, wrong options for re-injection, or similar.
