I didn't get that far. Trying to fetch the Alouette-III, flightgear got
stuck at 4.4% of the download. I'll try again.
At least I'm seeing a list of aircrafts in the UI, now. So that's progress.

No, I didn't ever see that. Sounds like the postinst script failed. Do
you have the following symlink?
/usr/share/games/flightgear/Fonts/LiberationFonts
