Well, I'm not sure I can be of a great help, indeed, as I don't really
know much about the package: I was just going through RC bugs with tag
"patch" in my own private BSP..:-)

The most important point was probably getting this comment of yours,
which is good for further readers in this bug report in case other
people want to squash this bug...:-)

Thanks for your work on it and the extra information you gave, which
explains why the bug, though tagged "patch" is not fixable as is.
