Sorry for the delay, I was busy...
Ergane said it is free, now it says something in Esperanto only:
http://download.travlang.com/en_s01.htm (screenshot at end)
I sent a query through their contact form to translate it into English
or German.
mbrdico is GPL. It has databases for Arabic, British English,
American English, Dutch, French and Spanish. It imported the English
databases from
http://ota.ox.ac.uk/browse/search.perl?search=SIMPLE&author=oxford%20advanced%20learner's%20dictionary%20of%20current%20english%20%20:

The OALD comes with this distribution term: "Available for
non-commercial use only with prior permission of the depositor and on
condition that this header is included in its entirety with any copy
distributed". But since information extracted from OALD is
distributed and not OALD itself, it that term cannot apply. The
mbrolatool subdirectory with a separate licence is not used. There
is no info about the sources of the other databases, so since the
Copying.txt makes no exception from GPL, they should be GPL.
txt2pho is only for German phonetics. Since it comes without source
code, I packaged it into the "non-free" section. But Horst Eyermann
got permission to use its output for FreeDict under GPL.
Now you decide...

> release the new stuff, I think.
Currently, building from FreeDict CVS works again. I will see...
I introduced a new dependency, teiaddphonetics now needs
XML::LibXML::Reader, which is available only from
http://search.cpan.org/~pajas/XML-LibXML-1.62001/ (8 Nov 2006).
libxml-libxml-perl in unstable is only 1.59:

Kindest regards,
Michael
