but wouldn't this make the work for the release team unecessarily hard?

I.e. the primary entry point for squeeze fixes should still be unstable. They 
explicitly asked the developers to try and keep unstable sane in todays mail.

When vala 0.9 is uploaded to unstable now before the release all fixes for 
programs written in vala need to use testing-proposed-updates which seems to 
be more work for the release team.
