Thinking about this some more... I'm pretty sure this is some kind of
racecondition.

Where is the difference between closing an application via the close
button on a window to closing it via the context menu of the dash?

Status in “ogre” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Sadly I have another problem with OGRE, both the packaged version of
  1.7.3 and also using 1.8-trunk from mecurical.

  OGRE applications now work fine for me. And closing them works too
  without problems when doing it via the window-titlebar or inside the
  app.

  But when I want to close the Application using the context menu in the
  launcher "quit", compiz itself crashes. OGRE however, exits without
  errors.

  I'm not sure whats the reason for this, nor if this is a compiz, unity
  or ogre bug. I am using the open-source radeon driver.
