just a comment: I know this is a minor issue, but especially younger useres often choose their OS also by ability to play games, so it happened with my daughter (5). She loves Ubuntu and its great and easy to use with lots of educational good games. 
One of her favourite is unfortunately SuperTuxKard. So what happened was that she switches more often to my installed Win7 to play the open source game SuperTuxKart...
Thanks to this suggested fix I got it running on my Ubuntu machine too - back to Ubuntu now :).

  SuperTuxKart crash on Kubuntu 12.10

Status in “supertuxkart” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Crashes every time when playing the game. When it crashes, Kubuntu Apport program tries to report but for some reason fails with no error. (saying: "Upload Problem")
  If I'm not wrong, on Kubuntu 12.04 LTS it worked fine with no crashes.

  I hope ubuntu-bug will help.
