Indeed.
I have the feeling that you find that not just ugly, but possible to do
different.
Please do elaborate!
Even though for this package it most probably irrelevant, multi-flavored
packages are not going away, and I am sincerely interesting in your
ideas on this (and feel that this bugreport is quite an appropriate
place to discuss it, also more generally).
