Hmm, I thought that the compiler and optimizations are set via the
debian/rules. I'm using a pretty standard sid (except for the
experimental kde) and I always thought that the packagers use the same
for building the packages.

I'm sorry, but the segfaults gone as soon as I uncomment that line again
and rebuilt gst-plugins using the same dpkg-buildpackage-command. So
from my point of view: your patch is the cause of the segfault :-(

I don't think that artsd will ever be fixed, according to a table on
amarok's homepage artsd is pretty much unmaintained... Let's hope that
the rumours are true that kde will use gstreamer for KDE4 (and drop
artsd) :-)
