In /usr/share/ppd/hpijs/HP/HP-Color_InkJet_cp1700-hpijs.ppd
there is following option:

*FoomaticRIPOptionSetting PageSize=A3: " -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=842 -dDEV&&
ICEHEIGHTPOINTS=1190"
*End

But in printer options there is no A3 format.

Probably this a reason that in "gtklp" is also no A3 for this printer
available.
