Hi,

Japanese input with anthy seems to have 3 routes.

  scim <-- scim-uim  <-- uim-common <-- anthy  <-- Keyboard
  uim-xim/uim-gtk2/uim-fep  <-- uim-common <-- anthy  <-- Keyboard
  scim <-- scim-m17n <-- libm17n    <-- anthy  <-- Keyboard

Interesting.  All of these work on X-apps with XIM and GTK2.
