[Pkg-ime-devel] Bug#746971: ibus-el should be updated for Gobject Introspection, or ...

Source: ibus-el
Version: 0.3.2-2
Severity: normal

I am sending copy of this bug report to everyone who has been involved
with this package. This is prelude to the package removal request.

ibus-el is written while using the ibus-python binding. The ibus
upstream has moved to Gobject Introspection based binding and the
ibus-python part is becoming unmaintained portion of ibus package and
ibus-python is about to be removed. (I as ibus maintainer is reluctant
to keep supporting ibus-python.)

I know nothing was proposed for https://bugs.debian.org/725379 .
This is also low popcon=103 package. (ibus-anthy=638, ibus-mozc=350)
I also never used this package.

Unless this package is updated for new Gobject Introspection based
binding, this package will not function. Unless someone raise his hand
to do that, I propose to ***remove*** this package.

Please note if you really wish to use this package to use EMACS directly
under non-X environment, you can do that with uim based tools. uim is
LISP so it is natural fit for EMACS user too :-)

EMACS can be used with normal ibus under X using ibus-anthy, ibus-skk,
....

Regards,

Osamu
