I think you've mixed things up here. The Translation Project (TP) does
not use Pootle; they have their own infrastructure. Actually, there
isn't a web interface at all, you keep using the normal .po files with
your .po editor of choice as always, the only difference being that you
do not commit the final result to SVN but instead send it via mail to
the TP robot.

The robot checks the .po file for syntax errors and some other common
errors in regard to the format and afterwards notifies us (iso-codes
maintainers) of the changes. Before a new iso-codes release is being
made, we fetch all updated translations from the TP and include them in
SVN.

Maybe you could take a look at the TP website and consider again
whether you could switch. Another advantage of using the TP is that the
translations can easily be reviewed by other members of the translation
team and that there are "backup" people available if a translator is no
longer able to maintain a translation. Moreover, you get an automatic
notification (if you want to) that your translation needs an update.

Well, we would like to encourage the use of the TP, because currently,
the synchronization between our SVN and the TP data is a pain for the
TP admins, so we would like to ease their work. If you absolutely do
not want to use the TP, you can of course keep committing to our SVN
directly. We would mark Spanish as an "external" language for the TP
then, so that the Spanish files do no longer appear on the TP website.

Please note that there's no risk of your work being "forgotten", like
some translation updates for debconf, which are rotting in the Debian
BTS. I can promise you that all translation updates you send to the TP
will be committed to our SVN with only a short delay, and they'll
surely make it into the next release.

All in all, I would like to ask you to reconsider if the TP approach
could be doable by you.
