It will work, but it is not transparent.  For languages that you 
handle directly, translators at the TP have no idea this work is 
already being done and might unwittingly do the same work again.  
The big idea of the TP is to give translators a single place where 
to check to status of things, instead of having to search in 
twenty, thirty, forty different upstream repositories.  So if you 
are handling some languages directly, please let me know which, so 
I can mark those as external for the iso packages.  Or instead ask 
those translators to start using the TP mechanism.
