As you may have read on the slang users list, the latest prerelease of
JED has a bug in popups.sl:

  In this case, slang 2.0.1 caught a bug in jed/lib/popups.sl.  The bug
  is that "add_files_popup_with_callback" was declared as "static" and
  then later on in the file implicitly declared as "public".

No idea, but the changes in the namespace semantics in slang 2.0.1 make
most of the JMR code, and therefore of the jed-extra package, unusable as
is is now.  So it would be better if he packaged slang 2.0.0.
