jed-common: ask before preparsing?

Dear fellow jed packagers,

studying the Debian policy, I stumbled across the line

Packages should try to minimize the amount of prompting they need to do ...

in "3.10.1 Prompting in maintainer scripts". (Actually, Jörg already cited
this in our "configuring jed-extra" discussion.)

IMO, there is no need to prompt before precompiling.

 * No negative side-effects of preparsing the standard modes listed in
   bytecomp.sl are known.
 * The additional space needed by the *.slc files is negligible compared
to the typical size of a Debian installation
 * The gain in speed is considerable.
 * Previous versions of jed shipped with the *.slc files only, so the
"mandatory" use of *.slc is nothing new.
 * The fact that *.slc files are built instead of shipped is irrelevant
for the average end user|administrator (interested people will find
   the notice in the changelog).

Would it suffice to delete the "jed-common/compile-sl" template
section or is there another file involved?

Günter
