Really? Did you made some experiments?

* Python modules do it too and they do not ask.

I thought in the past, the .slc files are prefered, but you told they
aren't used if the .sl file is newer. So, my assumption, a .slc file
shadows a .sl file is wrong. So the whole discussion if precompile or not
is non-representational.

So we should remove the whole debconf stuff concerning precompile.

Yes, delete this section and modify... eh, if I search the parts, I can
do it.
