With cuamouse.sl (from Jedmodes), I get a different behaviour: the mark
is popped and the selection inserted at mouse-point position.

If you have a look at mouse.sl, you will realise that it is pretty
convoluted (cuamouse.sl was an attempt to provide a cleaner interface to
the mouse, however it is pretty old code itself). IMHO the best way would
be to report this directly to John.
