Yes. But here's something different. I maintain a branch with patches I
would like to see applied upstream. One time to not forget about them and
the other time to provide up to date patches to John. Before a new
request to John I rebase the branch on the current upstream source
branch. None of the commits in upstream-fixes is in the code used for
packaging.

I only put the patches with the updated modes in the upstream-fixes
branch to get patches I can send to John.
