I've been having the same problems with KWeather. I've also tried several of the correction methods mentioned in other posts but to no avail. The only change I see during different removals and readds of the applet is that sometimes the station menu isn't clickable at all, other times it only provides an 'unknown station' choice. 

According to the help file, there should be a 'lookup station' button, but it's not visible for me.
