Package: lighttpd
Version: 1.4.11-7
Severity: important
Hello,
while searching for Ruby On Rails based blog and wiki engines I
stomped upon lighttpd and thought I test it on my notebook.
I just installed it and started it. PHP delivered as text file, so I ran
"light-enable-mod fastcgi" and did the force-reload. Then lighttpd
wouldn't answer any request anymore. I thought it might need a restart
and did so:
root at deepdance:~ -> /etc/init.d/lighttpd start
Starting web server: lighttpd.
root at deepdance:~ -> 2006-08-20 19:33:20: (mod_fastcgi.c.1048) the
fastcgi-backend /usr/bin/php4-cgi failed to start:
2006-08-20 19:33:20: (mod_fastcgi.c.1063) terminated by signal: 11
2006-08-20 19:33:20: (mod_fastcgi.c.1068) to be exact: it seg-fault,
crashed, died, ... you get the idea.
2006-08-20 19:33:20: (mod_fastcgi.c.1070) If this is PHP try to remove
the byte-code caches for now and try again.
2006-08-20 19:33:20: (mod_fastcgi.c.1356) [ERROR]: spawning fcgi failed.
2006-08-20 19:33:20: (server.c.834) Configuration of plugins failed.
Going down.
I can not make much sense out of the error message since I am not aware
running any byte-code caches. I didn't change lighttpd config beside
enabling fastcgi mod. I am not aware that I changed my php4.ini for cgi.
Running php4 manually from command line works okay.

I did not found an option to raise the debug level in lighttpd.conf
