[pkg-lighttpd] not available in etch/testing

although I've seen messages like

I can't find lighttpd in etch/testing as of today.

according to:
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=lighttpd&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=all
it only exists in sid/unstable.

what is the current plan? I would like to use it for a mediawiki
installation but was
surprised to not being able to install on etch.
