Subject: lirc 0.8.3pre1 package problems
Friends,
A bug was introduced in lirc somewhere around 0.8.2 and proceeded
through 0.8.3pre1 which prevents lirc transmission (and some receiving)
from working. While there is no software output of an error - there is
no response from the hardware.
I am an ubuntu user and have tested on both gutsy and hardy development
by doing the following:
Take known working config files and install lirc package. Test sending -
reports success but no output on transmitter. Take known working config
files and compile lirc SVN. Test sending - reports success and output is
on transmitter.
Other users have experienced the same results:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lirc/+bug/182530
The lirc package has come a significant way and the version for hardy is
very impressive with how much is configured through debconf. I would
like to help more but I do not know how to repackage this with SVN code
instead of 0.8.3pre1.
Let me know how to proceed.
Cheers!
