[Pkg-lirc-maint] Improvements to init script

Hello:

We've made some improvements to the init script in LIRC to make the process
a little more graceful in Ubuntu.  Instead of echo'ing periods and names, we
use log_daemon_msg to match more of the boot process.  See the attached
patch for more information.
