hi all,

as you all know we had our ubuntu developer conference in paris this
month, as always the ltsp.org guys were attending there and we worked
out a lot of nice specifications for the further upstream development in
ltsp. you can see an overview under [1]

as usual i will create a branch for every feature we develop and keep
that around on http://people.ubuntu.com/~ogra/bzr-archive/ltsp/ (and
register them in launchpad under [2] where appropriate), so you can
merge, fix or mix features as you like.

one of the biggest steps in the near future will be that ltsp.org wants
to switch its version control and bugtracking to launchpad and bzr to
prepare the merge of the two different ltsp versions that are currently
confusing many users. this will happen over the next two ubuntu releases
(until april) [3]. launchpad will get an autobuild structure to produce
daily ltsp tarballs from the chroot for at least i386 and powerpc [2]
that will be public avaliable for download.

additionally we will merge many features from ltsp.org into the upstream
branch (i.e. [3] and [4]) with the help of ltsp.org and with some slight
modifications to better match the muecow architecture.

i merged the debian branch over the last two days, fixed all outstanding
bugs in there that made it break and branched that out into an edgy
branch so we have a functional base to work off for ubuntu edgy. the
usual upstream branch under [7] will persist and will get all working
features from all known branches merged back, this will become the base
for the merge with ltsp.org as well (i'll also add it to launchpad soon,
will send a notification then).

in case you maintain a branch that is not registered under [2] yet,
please do so to make the merging easier.

ciao
oli
