this should regenerate a working sshd_config:

mv /etc/ssh/sshd_config /etc/ssh/sshd_config.bak

dpkg-reconfigure openssh-server

i haven't seen a need to modify sshd_config on any recent openssh-server
install. i'm using openssh-server 4.3p2-5.

md5sum /etc/ssh/sshd_config
ba9c3f808c811d6f944ad10a508c4767 /etc/ssh/sshd_config

also, feel free to drop in the #ltsp channel on irc.freenode.net if you
have more questions.

live well,
  vagrant

p.s. no need to CC me if you post to the pkg-ltsp-devel list.
