[Pkg-ltsp-devel] generating debian/control

so, one of the main things we differ with between ubuntu and debian is
debian/control, which generates lots of conflicts when merging.

i'm wondering if it wouldn't be easier to do some sort of generation of
debian/control magic and use variables to generate debian/control for
the appropriate distro.

this could significantly reduce the amount of manual conflict resolution
needed when merging between debian and ubuntu, and will likely make
everybody happier, and easier to keep more in sync than we have.

thoughts on how to implement?

as i understand it, we can't do this at build time (at least in debian)
to avoid changing dependencies with binary NMUs and autobuilt packages.
