Partial upgrades from one stable release to another are expected to
work, unless there's a really good reason (of the kind which one would
most likely expect to be mentioned somewhere prominent such as in the
Release Notes).

If installing the squeeze version of lvm2 on a lenny system leaves the
system in an unbootable state then that would be an RC bug.
