Bug#389026: madwifi-source: Kernel 2.6.18 panics upon reboot

(This message is a smaller copy of the report in the BTS for approval
on the pkg-madwifi-maintainers list, without the System.map and kernel
config files and with a mention of my hardware.
Sorry for having forgotten to compress them in the first place.)

Package: madwifi-source
Version: 0.svnr1697.0.9.2-1
Severity: important

Upgrading from kernel 2.6.17 to 2.6.18, I now receive a kernel panic
upon reboot with the madwifi modules in use. This happens somewhere
in the final stages of the reboot, after all processes have been
killed.

I hunted down a way to work around the panic: If I terminate my WLAN
connection before rebooting by manually executing "wpa_action ath0
stop", the kernel reboots flawlessly. So the panic seems to occur only
if the ath_pci module is still in use upon rebooting.

The latest upstream version (svn r1730) shows the same behavior.

I am employing wpasupplicant 0.5.4-5 with the madwifi driver.

Following are the last (hand-copied) kernel messages after the panic.

Regards,
Peter
