Sure.  I'd add the patch I submitted to BTS as quilt patch to series.
Moreover I would like to add the desktop file as mentioned earlier as
a fix for #616196.

As I proposed earlier: I would not spend too much time in fixing SVN but
rather start from scratch with Git (as far as I know this is what you
prefered).  Finally the released packages can be reconstructed from
snapshot.d.o - so why sorting out some historical mess?

I definitely do not want to screw up things but rather helping out.

So I would do the following

  * apt-get source mc
  * shamelessly add myself to Uploaders field
  * Close bug #616196 and #628762
  * Hope that mc users will be happy about this

I never imagined any malice - just wanted to try to help.  Take your
time and solve the real life problems first.
